Construction Manager
We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to take responsibility for the effective planning, coordination and execution of construction projects.
This role requires a strong operational leader who can manage programmes, site teams, subcontractors, resources, quality, safety and project delivery while ensuring that projects remain on schedule and within required standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement construction programmes in consultation with the Projects Director.
Determine construction sequences, methodologies, resources and programme requirements.
Monitor project progress against agreed timelines and implement corrective action where required.
Review drawings and plans, identify discrepancies or omissions and escalate these timeously.
Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor requirements to ensure uninterrupted site operations.
Manage day-to-day site administration, costing requirements, materials, deliveries and resources.
Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, programmes and site diaries.
Oversee setting out, surveying, datum levels, grids and coordinates.
Implement and monitor project quality plans and subcontractor quality control requirements.
Ensure non-conformances are reported and corrected.
Maintain compliance with company and legal health and safety requirements.
Lead, guide and manage construction teams and subordinate site staff.
Allocate responsibilities and targets according to project priorities.
Monitor productivity, minimise wastage and manage staff performance.
Coach and develop team members while maintaining effective labour relations.
Minimum Requirements
BSc Construction Management qualification.
Honours will be advantageous
Minimum 10 years' experience within the construction environment.
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Senior Foreman.
Strong knowledge of construction processes and trades.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
Strong understanding of construction programmes and project timeframes.
Experience with setting out and levelling.
Knowledge of construction materials, plant and equipment.
Understanding of site administration systems.
Experience coordinating construction teams, subcontractors and materials.
Knowledge of staff management and relevant labour legislation.
Sound knowledge of SHEQ legislation and implementation.
Understanding of construction cost control.
Computer literacy.
